Spring clean your skin care routine

Just as you would spring clean your home and swap out your winter clothing for lighter attire, the same can be said for your skin care routine. After months of the harsh winter cold air and dry indoor air, now is the time your skin will need a deep spring clean. Products that worked during the winter may not work for you during the warmer months so read on to discover Algovital Angel spring cleansing advice.

    Exfoliation

The path to waking up your hibernating winter skin is by exfoliating on a regular basis. Even though your skin is always regenerating, exfoliating will help remove skin impurities and all the winter dead skin cells that may have clogged your pores. A deep exfoliate will also help your products absorb into your skin better. Give yourself a full face and body scrub with a long soak in the bath and use a gentle exfoliator to focus on exfoliating those spots that are prone to hard skin such as knees, elbows, hand and feet.

    Moisturise

Rich heavy moisturisers can leave your skin feeling oily in the warmer months. Swap them for a lighter moisturiser that can keep your skin hydrated and healthy as well as keeping your pores clear. However, if you have very dry skin, eczema or psoriasis, you may need a heavier moisturiser all year round.

    Sunscreen

While it is important to wear sunscreen 365 days of the year, it’s now time to upgrade to a sunscreen with SPF factor 30 or above for Spring and Summer. Spring time is actually a high-risk time for sunburns, the sun may not be shining as brightly but its UV rays are just as strong. Apply a sunscreen first thing in the morning and reapply before any outdoor activities. You can avoid excess sun exposure by wearing hats and more clothing for extra protection.

    Lighten your make up

Let your natural skin shine! Lighten your make up by laying off the foundation as part of your beauty routine. A heavy foundation combined with the warmer weather can block pores causing irritation. Instead opt for a tinted moisturiser that won’t cake as easily as a foundation but will still give you the coverage you need so look out for a good BC cream.

    Spritz to keep hydrated

Keep a face mist in your handbag. It’s ideal to use throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated and your make up looking fresh.
